How Smart Polling Works
HeyBoss now uses a dynamic polling mechanism to check for collaboration updates. The app automatically adjusts how often it polls based on your activity:
Active polling (every 5 seconds): When you’re focused on an input field, HeyBoss checks for updates every 5 seconds to keep you in sync with your team.
Idle polling (every 30 seconds): If you’re not actively typing or interacting, the app reduces polling to every 30 seconds, saving device resources.
Automatic pause: Polling stops when your browser tab is hidden and resumes instantly when you return, minimizing distractions and unnecessary data usage.
Step-by-Step: Using Smart Polling
Open HeyBoss and join or create a collaborative workspace.
Engage with input fields (such as chat or document editing). The app will poll for updates every 5 seconds to keep you up-to-date.
Pause your activity or switch to another task. Polling slows to every 30 seconds, conserving resources while still keeping you connected.
Hide or minimize the browser tab. Polling stops automatically, reducing distractions and saving bandwidth.
